Proposal Writers Guide
Sponsored by the University of Michigan, this site comprehensively covers the necessary steps in writing a grant proposal.
School Grants
This independently operated site offers free examples of successful grant applications, grant writing tips, and fundraising information. A fee-based bi-weekly newsletter is available for $35 and a year and a “Write a Grant” CD-ROM may be purchased for $49.95.
Education Weekly
This site offers a plethora of little-known grants from corporate, foundation, and Federal sources. Click on the Education Week icon on the upper tool bar, then scroll down to the lower left corner of the vertical toolbar to click on grants. Free one time registration required.
Grants.gov
"Find. Apply. Succeed" is the main page heading of this federally sponsored web site offering access to all Federal grant-making agencies. Grants.gov is the single access point for over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making agencies. It is not education specific. Advice on optimizing grant applications is also included.

The Dept of Ed’s resource page allows users to search for DOE grants, download electronic applications, and forecast upcoming funding opportunities.

This site is an online newspaper geared for nonprofit organizations. Read articles regarding acquiring funding and search a large database of grant givers. Most information requires a subscription fee. Subscriptions start at $29 a year.

Fundsnet provides links to education-focused foundations and corporate philanthropies. Once on this site, click on the Education or Grant Writing Resource links, which is found under the Active Channels section.

Renaissance Learning provides a searchable database of Federal, state, and private funds. Additional materials regarding attaining local funds are outlined.
A Guide to Investing in Volunteer Resources Management
In integral part of making the most of your library budget is utilizing volunteers effectively and efficiently. The UPS Foundation, in collaboration with more than 50 grantmakers, has created "A Guide to Investing in Volunteer Resources Management" which teaches "how to invest in and support the structures that sustain effective volunteering."
